The Zilco Hackamore Flower is an anatomical bitless bridle designed to apply targeted pressure to the nose, jowls, under the jaw, and poll. It allows for refined and progressive communication between rider and horse, without direct contact with the mouth, making it an ideal solution for horses that refuse the bit or for riders who wish to ride bitless.

The flower shape of the stainless steel shanks allows for progressive and adjustable action depending on the rein position, offering multiple degrees of leverage intensity based on the desired level of control. The closer the rein is attached to the center of the flower, the softer the action, similar to a side-pull effect. The further away it is, the more the pressure will be increased.

The comfort pad integrated into the noseband ensures gentle and even pressure distribution on the nose.

The hackamore is particularly suitable for:
• Horses that do not tolerate bits in their mouths,
• Or those with oral sensitivities or injuries,
• For outdoor work, schooling…
• Experienced riders with soft hands who wish to refine their bitless communication. If you are new to bitless riding, the flower model allows for a gentler adjustment and is therefore recommended.
• For riders who ride multiple bitless horses and need an action adapted to each one.

It is generally permitted in all show jumping competitions, including those for young horses.

Hackamore placement:
Place the noseband on the horse's nasal bone, approximately two finger-widths below the zygomatic arch. The shanks should lie flat against the sides of the horse's face.
Attach the hackamore's sidepieces to the upper rings of the shanks.
Be careful not to position the hackamore too low, as this risks injuring your horse at the tip of its nasal bone.

Noseband adjustment:
The noseband with comfort pad should be adjusted to remain stable without compressing. It should stay in place without slipping, but should not restrict the horse's movements.

Rein adjustment:
Attach the reins to one of the points on the shank according to the desired effect:
• Higher for light action,
• Lower for more leverage and control.

Expert's Take:

The Zilco Flower Hackamore is an excellent choice for horses that need a bitless solution while maintaining a high level of precision in riding. Thanks to its multiple adjustments, it adapts to many work situations and different horse profiles.
The presence of a comfort pad on the noseband significantly increases the horse's well-being by better distributing pressure on the nasal bone. Its construction from stainless steel and synthetic materials makes it strong, corrosion-resistant, and easy to maintain.

💡 It is nevertheless important to have good hands: like any hackamore, improper use can make the action severe. It is therefore recommended for experienced riders.
